The composite is computed by our Postgres function compute_ln_world_index_score from the 18 score columns of every jurisdiction. Inputs are grouped into thematic clusters (safety, infrastructure, quality of life, and related families), then combined into a single 1 to 10 score. Jurisdictions with fewer than five non-null inputs are excluded. Missing inputs are handled so the composite stays comparable across jurisdictions. The composite is refreshed when any underlying dimension is republished. The map uses absolute paliers consistent with our ranking pages, not personalised percentiles, so the same color always means the same range.
It is our composite index that aggregates 19 objective dimensions into one number from 1 to 10 for every jurisdiction in our coverage, with no profile-specific adjustments.
The composite is fixed for everyone and based on objective dimensions only. A personalised GeoCompass score, computed in the cockpit, adjusts how dimensions count toward your score based on your profile, constraints, and goals.
Open the side panel on any country, or see the full ranking under /rankings/world-index for the ordered list with the latest scores.
The composite is recomputed whenever a feeder dimension is republished. The map below reads the most recent published scores.
