Inputs include headline personal and corporate tax rates, the type of tax system (territorial, worldwide, remittance, no tax), the severity of any annual wealth tax, and exit taxes that hit individuals. All normalised to a 1 to 10 score that captures the overall tax climate for residents. The map reflects the latest published Tax Freedom score per jurisdiction.
Tax Freedom Index measures the overall tax burden, including personal income tax, corporate tax, wealth tax, and tax system type. It is one of the 23 objective dimensions that feed our composite Lucky Nomads World Index.
The Tax Freedom Index is scored independently for every jurisdiction from primary sources and structured analytical inference, then normalised on a 1 to 10 scale. The same engine powers the cockpit, ranking pages, and country profiles, so the Tax Freedom Index you see here matches the score on each country profile.
