Lucky Nomads complies with the applicable legal framework governing the use of cookies, including Directive 2002/58/EC (ePrivacy Directive), Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), and Article 82 of Law No. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 as amended (Loi Informatique et Libertés). This policy aligns with CNIL deliberation No. 2020-091 of 17 September 2020 adopting guidelines on cookies and other trackers.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognise your device, remember your preferences, and collect certain information about how you interact with the site.

• Strictly necessary cookies: exempt from the consent requirement under Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive. No prior consent is needed for these cookies.
• Internal analytics system: Lucky Nomads uses a cookieless analytics system that does not store or access any information on your device. It therefore falls outside the scope of Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive and does not require prior consent.

Lucky Nomads does not use device fingerprinting, canvas fingerprinting, or any local storage technology (localStorage, IndexedDB, or similar) for tracking purposes. The only exception is the opt-out preference cookie described in Section 3.1, which stores your explicit choice not to be counted in anonymous statistics.

As Lucky Nomads uses only strictly necessary cookies and a cookieless analytics system, no cookie consent banner is displayed on this website.

3. Cookies Used on luckynomads.io

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are exempt from the consent requirement. They are essential for the website to function and cannot be disabled.

These cookies are strictly necessary for the operation of the website and cannot be disabled.

They are used for infrastructure performance, security, and payment processing. Some of these cookies may process limited technical information (such as device or session identifiers) for fraud prevention purposes.

They do not track users for marketing or advertising purposes.

The 1-year duration of the __stripe_mid cookie is set by Stripe to maintain consistency of its fraud prevention controls over an extended period. Lucky Nomads does not control this duration. Stripe's Cookie Policy is authoritative for this parameter: stripe.com/legal/cookies-policy.

Vercel may set additional infrastructure-level cookies required for security, routing, and performance optimization. These cookies are technical in nature and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

3.2 Internal analytics system

Lucky Nomads uses a minimal, privacy-first internal analytics system to measure aggregated traffic statistics. This system:

• does not use cookies for tracking or analytics purposes;
• does not store personal data or any information that could identify an individual user;
• does not track users across pages, sessions, or devices;
• collects only aggregated page view counts, approximate country of origin (derived from IP addresses which are processed ephemerally and immediately discarded - never stored by Lucky Nomads), and traffic source.

Distinction from infrastructure logs: The above applies to Lucky Nomads' internal analytics system only. Separately, Vercel (the hosting provider) processes IP addresses in its infrastructure logs as part of the normal provision of the hosting service. This processing is governed by Vercel's privacy policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Lucky Nomads also uses Vercel Speed Insights to measure site performance (load times, Core Web Vitals). This data is anonymous and does not identify visitors. No cookies are used for this purpose.

Opt-out. If you prefer not to be counted in these anonymous statistics, you can opt out at any time by visiting: luckynomads.io/analytics/exclude-me. Your opt-out preference is stored in a cookie (ln_internal_analytics_excluded) with a duration of 1 year - see the cookie table in Section 3.1. This does not involve any personal data.

4. No Advertising or Tracking Cookies

Lucky Nomads does not use advertising cookies, behavioural tracking cookies, social media tracking pixels, or any technology designed to track users across third-party websites or platforms. No user data collected on luckynomads.io is used for retargeting or behavioural advertising purposes.

The internal analytics system described in Section 3.2 is strictly limited to anonymous, aggregate traffic measurement and does not constitute tracking.

5. Consent and Opt-Out

Since Lucky Nomads uses only strictly necessary cookies (Stripe and Vercel infrastructure), which are exempt from consent requirements under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, no cookie consent banner is displayed on luckynomads.io. You are not required to take any action to manage cookie consent on this website.

The internal analytics system does not use cookies for tracking and does not process personal data. The only cookie associated with it is the opt-out preference cookie (Section 3.1), which is strictly necessary to honour the user's explicit request. It therefore does not require prior consent under the ePrivacy Directive or the GDPR.

Opt-out of anonymous statistics. If you prefer not to be included in anonymous traffic counts, you may opt out at any time by visiting luckynomads.io/analytics/exclude-me. This preference is stored in a cookie (ln_internal_analytics_excluded) with a duration of 1 year - see Section 3.1. It does not involve any personal data. Opting out does not affect the functionality of the website.

6. Third-Party Services

Certain cookies on luckynomads.io are set by third-party service providers. Lucky Nomads does not control the cookies placed by these providers when you interact directly with their services (for example when you pay via Stripe). These providers have their own cookie and privacy policies:

GeoCompass questionnaire (Lucky Nomads website): the assessment form is served on luckynomads.io (first party). Any strictly necessary cookies for the form or session are covered under the first-party sections above. No third-party form provider is used to collect your responses.
