Methodology
The count is the number of destinations a passport reaches without a prior visa, drawn from our bilateral visa access matrix of 200 nationalities across 233 destinations. It includes free movement, visa-free entry, visa on arrival, and electronic travel authorizations. The map colors countries by quintile within the full pool so the spread stays readable, while the hover shows the absolute count. It is recomputed on a regular cadence as visa rules change.

What does the number mean?
It is the count of destinations the passport enters without applying for a visa first, including free movement, visa-free entry, visa on arrival, and electronic travel authorizations.
Does an eVisa count as visa-free?
No. An eVisa must be applied for and approved before departure, so it is treated as visa-required here, in line with the standard visa-free definition.
Is a higher count always a stronger passport?
Not on our index. The passport power map weights livability and the right to reside, so a high raw count does not guarantee a high power score.
